It is expected that the volunteer will develop relationships with the other volunteers, be open to giving and receiving counsel, and enthusiastically participate in issues (which include faith, lifestyle, and values) and activities of the local MVS unit and community. While there are differing expectations regarding how one is involved in the local faith community, the volunteer is willing to use his or her gifts and develop a relationship within the expectations of the local faith community.

Organization Description:
St Clair O'Connor Community is an intergenerational housing complex, focusing primarily on seniors' housing. It is also a Elderly Persons Centre, and has an Adult Day Program for the cognitively impaired. It has approximately 150 housing units, including sixteen family town houses.
Position Description:
The Customer Service/Special Programs & Services Assistant will work in a number of areas, including the Program Department, residents activities, and reception. This position reports to the Life Enrichment Supervisor.
Duties:
- Assist with the organizing and implementation of special programs and services for the Life Enrichment Department; i.e. Adult Day Program, Canada Day, Volunteer Recognition, Health and Wellness programs, Trips, and fundraising events, et cetera.
- Assist in the operation of an in-house store and coffee shop. This includs promoting the sale of Self Help crafts.
- Assist with vacation coverage for Reception.
- Assist Resident Services Team Leader with annual Emergency Information Update.
- Attend staff meetings and In-service training sessions.
- Help maintain a safe, secure environment for residents, clients, volunteers and staff.
- Respect confidentiality and work cooperatively with staff, residents, clients, volunteers and students.
- Comply with the organization's Policies and Practices for Health and Safety, Fire; e.g. respond to fire alarm, drills, et cetera. Comply with all the organization's guidelines.
- Participate in other work activities as time permits.
- Work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

The Global Closet Thrift Shop is a new thrift shop in Toronto that opened in the summer of 2003. It seeks to be a friendly, caring presence in the community, showing value and respect to all. Practising and promoting faithful stewardship and care for God's creation and raising funds for MCC are key components to the mission statement of this and other MCC Ontario thrift shops.
Position Description:
The Management Support Worker/Volunteer Coordinator will relate with the shop manager, volunteers and customers. This position is accountable to the shop manager.
Duties:
- Responsible for managing the receiving of donations-in-kind and loading merchandise being picked up by customers.
- Assist manager in maintaining attractive displays and merchandise on the shop floor.
- Assist managers in keeping the workroom area neat and organized.
- Fill in as customer service staff (i.e. Cashier) in the absence of the scheduled customer service staff.
- Take responsibility to train and support the shop volunteers. This includes running the appreciation program and maintaining the scheduling of volunteers.
- Build positive relationships with staff, donors, customers and the general community
- Assist with store maintenance and other assignments from the manager as circumstances dictate.
